In the western world, spring rolls have become a key part of Thai and Asian cuisine. Sitting down for a meal with friends and family, the order starts with spring rolls even before the menus are opened!

When these delicious little crunchy rolls arrive piping hot with a choice of dipping sauces, the scene is set for a fabulous meal.

The origin of spring rolls dates way back to the Eastern Jin dynasty which lasted from 265 AD to 420 AD. At the time, it was customary to celebrate the coming of spring with small cakes filled with fresh produce. This was a welcome change from the dried products eaten during the cold winter months. Hence the name Spring Dish. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the little cakes gradually became rolls and the name changed to Spring Rolls.

Spring rolls are light and fresh, made with a thin pastry, rolled into a small parcel and filled with a choice of exciting fillings. Vegetables, seafood, chicken, pork and beef are some of the popular options. The rolls are deep fried and served with dipping sauces like sweet chilli sauce, peanut sauce, exotic spicy sauces or classic soy sauce. Take your choice!

At The Taste, we hand make our spring rolls with love and care. Each one is freshly prepared using only the best quality ingredients. Unlike some Thai restaurants and Thai takeaways, we do not ever buy frozen spring rolls and defrost them when needed. Ready-made frozen spring rolls found in your local supermarket are not the best quality and do not offer the same flavour and crispness as freshly made rolls.

Visit us at The Taste and try our authentic Vegetarian Thai Spring Roll dish. It consists of four pieces, deep fried in 100% rice bran oil until golden brown and served with a Thai sweet chilli sauce. Delicious!
